The history of Spiral Wound Gaskets
For over hundred years, spiral wound gaskets (SWG's) are used for high quality gaskets. SWG’s are made of preformed, V-shaped metal wire, together with soft sealing fillers. Putting those two elements together, a high compressibility and recovery will follow. The sealing strips or fillers are usually graphite, although other materials such as PTFE, LeaderTherm or Ceramic may be used as well.
